Comments, people!!!!!!!!!

I'm a "words of affirmation" kind of person...

I know this because I took a quiz once, and it told me so! I wasn't shocked with the results.

Anyway... I enjoy updating the blog and sharing our lives with our friends and family, so there is an intrinsic reward just in seeing my pictures and journal entries "published," but sometimes if feels like it's all published into a giant black hole.

So let me know that you dropped by! Tell me my kids are cute (yes, I don't really need anyone to tell me that 'cause it's so blindlingly obvious, but I still love to hear it from anyone and everyone!) Leave some constructive criticism on my photography, if you're so inclined.

There's a little blue link at the bottom of every post regarding comments. I recently figured out how to enable people to post comments without signing up for a blogger ID, so it's really quite easy. The most difficult part will be the character identification thingie (just to keep nasty spammers from littering the site). And there will be a slight delay between submitting and seeing the comment on the blog because the comments have to be approved first (again, to keep spammers and nasty weirdos from bringing me down.)

It'll make my day! Thanks! :D

Keeley's first "spout," hehe!

Ah, success!! I tried once before to put a hair elastic in Keeley's hair, but she wouldn't sit still, so I gave up. I've been summoning up the courage to try again - this time I used my arms and legs to hold hers down and got it done! She didn't particularly enjoy it, but she's so darn cute, it was worth the bit of struggle (at least to me!) So, of course, some pictures...

A really cute shot of Keeley and Daddy!

Daddy blowing raspberries on her neck - Eeeeeeeee!

Keeley pushing Daddy's head to the side - she LOOOOOOOVES this game! :D

The "spout" in all it's splendor! (And another "no paparazzi" shot, hee hee!)

More silliness...

Carrying her "Laugh and Learn Puppy" around. She loves to carry dolls and toys all around the house!

Dancing along with the puppy. She LOVES to dance to music, and it's just the cutest thing ever!

How big is Keeley? SOOOOOOOOO big! (I have to find the comparison shot of Luken in a similar pose at a similar age!)

Luken needed to join in on all the fun - Daddy is spinning him 'round and 'round!

Two kiddos clamoring for more fun and games with Daddy!

Yet another backyard fun post!

It was beautiful here Thursday afternoon, so when we arrived home from picking Luken up from school, we headed out back for some fun. It was about 90ยบ and cloudy. Awesome for North Texas in July!

Luken on the teeny baby swing.

Keeley, surveying the yard. Hey, does anyone know how to coax eyeteeth through the gumline? She's been gnawing on those fingers nonstop lately!

SUCH a sweet brother, pushing his baby sister on the swing!

Whee!!

He had given her a kiss, but I missed it, so I tried to get him to recreate it. Didn't quite turn out the way I'd pictured, but kind of funny nonetheless!

Little man with a serious expression.

Slipping out of the swing - oops!

Playing nicely together - why can't it always be this way? ;)

Trying to figure out how to use the slide...

...Did you see this coming? I admit, I sort of did, and I let it happen anyway (and took a PICTURE, to boot, ha ha!) It really was a soft landing in the grass. She didn't even fuss.

Ever observant Luken pointing out a shingle on the neighbor's roof that is just ever so slightly warped. According to him, the whole thing is broken!

More playing nice! :D

Yay! She finally figured the slide out!

Luken wanted her on his lap. He was trying so hard to help me get a cute shot of the two of them. Once again, she wasn't!!

Sweet girl!

Getting adventurous and checking out the rest of the yard. It's kind of hard to walk in the grass!

Uh-oh. Off to torture the doggies!

Hello there, furry thing!

Beautiful blues!

A neat picture of Keeley's amazing eyes!

Dinner Conversation...

Luken is getting pretty darn funny these days. Just this morning he said, in response to some directive I gave him, "You're killing me!" (I'm pretty sure he learned that one from me, ha ha!)

Anyway, this evening as the 4 of us were seated at the kitchen table having dinner, the following conversation took place:

Luken: "When Keeley's a Mommy, she can have Guido and Luigi. [Guido and Luigi are characters from Cars. Luken has the die cast toys, and they have to be stashed when Keeley's awake, as they're pretty tiny and considered choking hazards.] I think it's a boy - I think she's going to have a boy."

Me: "Oh, you think?"

Luken: (Matter of factly) "Yes."

Me: When you're a Daddy, what are you going to have?"

Luken: (Excitedly) "DESSERT!!!"

Cue Todd and me cracking UP!! :)

Wiggly party fun!

A little friend of ours celebrated her 2nd birthday at the Wiggly Play Center in town, and we were lucky enough to be invited to the party!

Luken, saying "Freeze!" He tries to freeze people all the time, but it rarely works, ha ha!

In the party room, eating blueberry muffins and fruit. This was taken either right before, or a few minutes after Keeley tumbled from that chair! I stuck pretty close to her after that - sometimes I forget how little she really is, though she tries to be so big all the time!

Chowing down!

Boys getting their cake on!

Mmmmmm!!!!!

Keeley, being a funny cutie pie!

Luken, sliding down the "Pipe Tummy!"

Keeley, enamored with a friend!

Flirting with said friend from the safety of Mommy's leg!

Checking out the big slides!

Luken, saying goodbye to a friend. This is a big deal, as Luken is usually "too shy" or "too sad" to say goodbye to anyone. I was so proud of him! After that, when we were leaving, he waved to EVERYBODY, whether he knew them or not!

In the toddler area, stuffing himself inside a soft box! He was having a blast - it was way cute!

Peek-a-boo!

Cute little man!

Keeley's a Weanie!

Well, I think it's official - we are done nursing! We had been down to just a morning session for a couple of weeks, though I'm certain she wasn't getting but a few drops. The last time Keeley nursed was the morning we left on our trip to Hilton Head, which was July 12. I didn't offer while we were out of town, and she didn't ask for it, so I haven't offered since. No trauma for her, and no discomfort for me - I think since I wasn't producing much, I had no trouble drying up altogether. A nice bonus, as I felt pretty sensitive and uncomfortable for about 2 weeks after Luken's last nursing session.

So, we can officially call it 14 months. I'm pretty darn happy with that! There were times I was ready to throw in the towel much earlier, but the little princess wouldn't take a bottle so I was stuck. I feared I'd be nursing her forever! She does wonderfully with her Nuby cup filled with whole milk now, yay!

Just wanted to mark the milestone...

Waving bye-bye!

This morning we attended the 4th birthday party of one of our original playgroup pals. (This little girl is the oldest of the group, and we all mourn her birthdays (silently, of course ;) ) because it forces us to face the fact that the rest of the kids will soon be having another birthday, too! Boo hoo!)

Anyway, no pictures to share, I'm afraid, as it was a pool party and it's just too difficult to manage the two kiddos around water and take pictures, too. Especially now that Keeley is such a speedy walker!

So as we were saying our goodbyes at the end of the party, Keeley suddenly started waving and saying "Bye-bye" (though it sounded a bit more like "Dye-dye.") Yippee! Another milestone! And such a cute one, too! :D

She's been doing great with her "Mama" and "Dada," too, lately! She gets us mixed up a bit, but it's clear she's "labelling" us - we love it!

Some fun at the park...

Playing in the tunnel:

Such a cutie patootie!

I'm a big girl!

Walking up the steps all by herself!

Hi, Mom!!

She was looking down at a man and his daughter below, and I was standing behind her on the playscape. I couldn't leave her up there by herself, but really wanted the picture, so I took the next two sight unseen by holding the camera out and hoping I could focus in the right place!

Walking DOWN the stairs all by herself! I told you she was a big girl!!

Luken, hanging from the bar...

... then dropping to the ground - whee!

The bestest big brother in the universe, pushing Keeley on the swing!

Taking a water break and showing off his beautiful blues...

I tried for a posed shot of the two of them, but Keeley didn't cooperate. Luken was a champ, though!!
