Spraypark success!!

Finally, success! We met a few friends at the spraypark today for some fun in the sun!

Here's a common Luken-face. He wasn't so sure about the water, and mostly wanted to play in the adjacent park.

Both kiddos were kind of clingy for a while, so I wasn't able to take many pics. After a while it was time for some lunch, and Luken was feeling sweet and generous, and fed some of his apple to Keeley! :)

Silly Keeley!

Luken, REALLY wanting to swing.

I mean REALLY REALLY REALLY! LOL!

Keeley, surveying the scene...

Luken finally worked up enough nerve to actually TOUCH the water! Woo hoo!

Keeley's turn!

Just a neat pic of a friend's son's hand:

Keeley, doing more investigating:

Making the rounds...

"OK, now I'm pissed!"

"Ahhhh.... that's better!"
Since Luken didn't get wet at all, and I didn't manage to strip Keeley down to her bathing suit before SHE got wet, I put her in Luken's dry shirt! :D
On a side note, in this picture, I think you can REALLY see that Keeley has her Daddy's mouth! :)
All in all, a really fun outing! We will definitely go back, and hopefully by summer's end, Luken will get fully involved in the water fun!

Keeley's 12 (13) month checkup details...

We had Keeley's 1-year checkup today, just a little late... (I forgot to make her appointment far enough in advance - oh, well!)

Her stats:
Weight: 19lb 4oz.... 20th%
Height: 30"............70th%
Head: 45cm...........45th%

And Luken's, for comparison:
Weight: 22lb 15oz ...55th%
Height: 30"............. 55th%
Head: 48cm ........... 95th%

Nothing particularly notable from the rest of the appointment, aside from her being pissed off at the doc for peering in her ears, and at the nurse for giving her 3 shots. She is just perfect!

She is still nursing, but just twice a day - morning and night. She has transitioned fully to whole milk in a soft-spouted Nuby cup during the rest of the day (I'd started her with vanilla soy milk, as she wouldn't drink milk when we started the cup, and I was desperate for an alternative to breastmilk straight from the pump.)

She pulls up and cruises like a champ, and has attempted a step or two, but doesn't seem too interested in solo walking just yet. She will stand for a bit on her own, and has even stood up all on her own on occasion!

No "real" words just yet - a lot of "da" as an all-purpose word, though she is a pretty good mimic and has said "apple" - she just doesn't really know what it means! She is quite good at making her opinion known, nonetheless - she is L-O-U-D when she wants something, or is unhappy for any reason. Ear-splittingly loud.

She LOVES to dance, and will shake her little booty just about any time she hears music, or if I sing to her! It is just the CUTEST, especially when she'e wearing one of her dresses with a pleated skirt, as it swishes back and forth!

She figured out how to get down the staircase all by herself! She gets down the first stair headfirst (*gasp*!) but then turns herself around and goes feetfirst. She especially likes to do this after her bath, while she's scooting around naked! :D

Her hair is getting kind of long, and a bit scraggly, so she may be due for a trim soon. She's starting to sport the baby-girl mullet I remember many of my friends' daughters working through! She won't leave a bow in her hair for more than 2 seconds, and won't let me put any hair elastics in for baby pigtails. :( I will keep working on it, though... ;)

She adores her big brother and covets all his belongings! He adores her right back, though they have plenty of sibling skirmishes each and every day. When they are truly playing TOGETHER, there's nothing sweeter or cuter!

The sprayground that wasn't spraying...

So, our city finally realized that the ridiculous amounts of rain we've received this Spring have ended the drought, and decided to open the two spraygrounds we have in town! Yay!

We decided to go check one out with some friends. Unfortunately, it was raining yet AGAIN!! So, the sprayground wasn't spraying. The rain let up fairly quickly, so we stayed to play for a bit and had a GREAT time!

Here is Keeley, playing in her very first puddle! I thought her reflection made for a neat photo.

Luken, REALLY wishing I'd come over and push him in the swing.

Keeley, having lots of fun in the baby swing!

Luken and friends, Brayden and Kennedy, climbing up the play structure.

Pretty girl!

The boys got into a bit of an argument over pushing Keeley in the swing, but worked out a great compromise where they BOTH got to push! Talk about your win-win-win situation! 1... 2... 3!!!

Keeley, enjoying Brayden's attention!

Luken still wishes he could go in the baby swings, but his feet are so big I have a difficult time getting him back out. He's plenty big enough to sit on the big swings anyway. However, Luken still tries to convince me otherwise - here he is showing me how "teeny-tiny" he is! ;)

We hope to hit the spraygrounds on a sunny day sometime soon!

Whoops!

Luken has been doing GREAT getting himself undressed and dressed these days! He usually only needs help with his socks and with getting his shirt over his head.

But, sometimes he gets his shorts mis-oriented, and one day he looked like this:

Tee hee!! Oops! I just HAD to take a picture, but we fixe the shorts immediately after! :)

The eyes have it!

I just think my kids both have the COOLEST eyes! I'm always trying to get photos that do them justice. Here are a couple of tries!

Keeley's peepers!

Beautiful blues..

Some starry-eyed fun!

Luken was goofing around with these star glasses, and decided Keeley needed to play along, so he put a pair on her!
Getting up close and personal!
Two super-cute kiddos!

Luken's first and last days of MDO!

Here he is, wearing the same shirt for comparison! He sure grew up a bit between September and May, don't you think??
