The Birthday Party!

This was Luken's first all-boy party, as the theme was Indiana Jones! (Well, we did have one small ballerina princess in the mix, ha!)

We set the stage with some jungle/snake/spider decorations:

Oh, and some eyeballs, too!

We also set out some tasty snacks for our guests!
Butterfly Wings with Grasshopper Dip:

Beetle Legs:

Candied Spiders:

Yum, right??

Upon arrival, each friend received his own Indiana Jones satchel, with a paper hat inside!

Then, they started on their first activity - paper chain snakes!

Here is Alex with his snake!

Andy did a great job, too!

The next activity involved turning our friends into mummies!!

Some of the children were not too keen on being toilet-papered, so we set our sights on Daddy!

Andy and his daddy had fun with this!

Next up, outrun the giant rolling boulder, and crawl through the snake/spider/rat tunnel!!!

Alex made it through!

Boy, after all that running, the kids are a bit thirsty. Time for a tasty beverage...
What's this?? These juice boxes have been poisoned???!!!

Time to run around and find the antidote!!

A-ha! The balloons are filled with (chocolate eyeball) antidote!

Pop your balloon and eat the antidote!

Ooh, looks like Alex found a clue! (More on that in a minute...)

The next task.... display bravery by feeling Monkey Brains and Snake Eyeballs! (Cooked linguini, and blueberries in water, respectively.)

Seth seems none too pleased about this activity...

Andy will do it! (And Luken will observe..)

All along the way, the kids had been collecting clues, which would lead them to the TREASURE!! Here they are, putting them together and trying to figure it out.

This is what they saw:

A broom, golf clubs, a Green Machine, and Mommy's car. Where can all of these things be found? That's right... the garage!!

This guy glowed in the dark, but you'll just have to take my word for it. :D

A-ha! Treasure!!! (Chocolate coins, ring pops, and play money!)

That was fun! The kids collected their treasure in their satchels for future enjoyment.

Now it is time for some cake!
I had very little to do with this year's cake. I ordered the frosted cake from the grocery store, and had it frosted in chocolate with leaf border. The topper was ordered online - Indy running from the boulder. It becomes a toy after the party, and the cave has a button that will release the boulder and send it rolling after Indy!
It was Todd's idea to arrange the candles as torches - genius!

I did make some cookies and cream ice cream, and assembled some little dirt cups with gummy rattlesnakes, yum!

Time to sing!!

Later, Luken received some fabulous gifts from his wonderful friends!!

I hope everyone had a good time!!

Todd mixed up a Sidecar for me later - my reward, yum! :)
