A few crafty projects!

We've been fairly busy so far this summer, having lots and lots of playdates to keep ourselves entertained. Many of them have involved water in one way or another, so the camera has been safe and dry at home, thus, no pictures to share.

However, I did drag the sewing machine out of the closet and worked on a few projects for the kids. First, a sweet outfit for Keeley, which she has since refused to wear. This was one of my very first clothing projects ever! I usually only ever attempt home decor...

Next, a shirt for Luken. He had requested an octopus shirt, and I promised him I'd make one once I was finished with Keeley's outfit.
It's just an applique on a t-shirt. I love argyle, and thought an argyle octopus would be fun! It's not the most perfect thing I've ever seen... I sure picked a difficult outline for all that zigzag stitching, but Luken seems to like it, so I'm happy! I know the days are drawing near when he will no longer be pleased with such things.

Then I sewed some aprons for the kids, so they can help out in the kitchen from time to time. I took them to the fabric store and let them pick out their own fabrics! Sadly, there were no octopus prints, nor any Star Wars ones, so Luken settled on dinosaurs. I think it's pretty awesome, if I do say so myself!!

Keeley picked out some pink flowery fabric, of course! Very girly and cute!
But, another thing she refuses to wear. These are the best shots I got of her in it, and she hasn't worn it since...

It's OK.... it will fit for a long time to come, and someday she will brave the apron and the kitchen!

Luken and I have been having all sorts of fun baking up yummy cookies and blending up some fresh chilled tomato basil soup!! He is quite the little chef. :D

Great job! Silas used to have diapers made out of that argyle material. Jackie made them!
