Yet another homeschooling-perk kind of day.
On National DNA Day in April, an organization that provides science classes for homeschoolers offered a free event to celebrate! My kids were on the young side to really get the most out of it all, but they were welcome, so we went for it!
They got to use cool lab equipment. First up was a micro-pipette.
Later, they made bead bracelets using DNA sequences of different animals. Luken chose Bald Eagle, and Keeley chose Duck-Billed Platypus.

Then, they made necklaces using their own DNA extracted from saliva.
That blobby gel thing is what we were going for! We carefully pulled it out and put it into a little necklace. Cool!
