This August, we were suddenly able to sneak away to Northern California for 5 days, as Todd had a little time before starting a new job! We were thrilled to be able to make the trip, as we had hoped to visit family while escaping the summer heat in Texas.
We arrived at Don and Carol's in the evening, right in time for dinner. They were also expecting the family of the exchange student they hosted when Todd and Michelle were in high school, and we all arrived at the same time. We enjoyed meeting and catching up. Somehow, I did not manage to take ANY pictures of that. :/ For shame...
As our trip was fairly last-minute, it was largely unscheduled, which was wonderful! Carol had undergone an outpatient surgery the same day we arrived, and it was nice to be there to help her our while she recovered.
On our second day, we met my Dad for lunch in a nearby town.
That evening, we met up with Todd's aunt and uncle for a lovely dinner. It was so nice to get to see all of them and nosh on delicious meals!
The next morning, we lazed around and just enjoyed being there. I taught Luken how to play Solitaire!
Keeley played with some dominoes.
Then she snuggled with her Daddy. :D
Luken enjoyed the view.
The property on which they reside is very remote, scenic, and holds many outdoor activities that can't be had in the average suburban backyard. One such activity - archery!
Everyone took turns - even me! Just call me Katniss. :P
The odds were ever in my favor.
We are all awesome.
