Ms. Keeley recently decided she was ready to have her ears pierced! One of her friends had it done a few months ago, but she was not quite prepared to do it yet, because she was afraid of the pain. I told her she would one day change her mind - she thought I was nuts, but earlier this week, she suddenly announced she was ready!
She drew this picture right after her announcement:
We had a pretty busy week, plus I wanted to do some research before selecting a place to do the piercing, so she had to be patient for about a week.
After doing my research, I settled on a piercing salon that uses a needle, not a gun. People thought I was nuts, and that the gun would be faster, and therefore better, but I knew that Keeley could handle it and that it is the best way to get pierced. However, I was not up to taking on the task myself!
Her appointment was for 1:15 on Friday, so the kids and I had a nice lunch at a nearby restaurant, and then headed over to the salon. Luckily, Todd had concluded a meeting a little earlier and was able to join us there!
Once in the salon, Keeley set out to choosing a pair of earrings. This was a difficult task. So many pretty choices!
Daddy lifted her up for a closer look.
Happy girl!
Then it was time to sit in the chair. Getting a little nervous!
A last look at a naked lobe!
Holding one of the stuffed animal friends and chatting nervously.
Getting the spots marked on her ears.
Then she got to sit on Mommy's lap for comfort (and to be held still.)
The first one is already done!
Getting some freeze spray to numb the ear.
Getting pierced!
It went quickly. It hurt a bit.
She did GREAT!! I wouldn't say she enjoyed it, but she did not cry. Just said, "OUCH!"
Warming the ears back up.
Checking herself out!
After she was done, a full tummy and the post-adrenaline-rush relief caught up with her and she didn't feel very well for a while, but by the time we got home, she felt much better and enjoyed gazing at her sparkly ears in the mirror.
We are so proud of her big-girl decision and her big-girl behavior. She is a strong little lady! With sparkly ears. :)
