Keeley had a group of her favorite girls over for her birthday party this weekend. We decided to have an Almost Slumber Party! All the fun of a slumber party, but everyone went home to snuggle up in their own beds at bedtime. :)
While I was searching online for a theme, thinking of something like "No More Monkeys Jumping On The Bed," Keeley spotted some Paul Frank monkeys, and fell in love! She asked for a monkey nightgown for her party, and everything fell into place from there!
I got some cute ideas for invitations online, and came up with these:
They opened up to show Keeley in her PJ's with pancakes and a toothbrush.
And all the details:
We had a busy day getting ready for the party - decorating and preparing food.
The cereal centerpiece.
The table was made up like a bed!
Happy girl, all ready for her friends to arrive!
Sooo ready!
The first activity was decorating pillowcases!
Then they decorated toothbrushes! There are Spinbrushes for kids that come with fun sets of stickers, and the girls enjoyed personalizing them!
While the girls were crafting away, I had Todd on pancake duty, and I popped an egg casserole in the oven. Then it was time to eat!
And then CAKE!
Patiently waiting for the cake!
Being sung to. :)
Blowing candles out!
Keeley opened her presents next.
She got some really cute things from her sweet friends. :)
After that, the girls got comfy and ready to watch a movie. We brought the Guinea Pigs down for them, and turned on Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked. :D
All too soon it was bedtime, and our guests headed home. Here are Keeley and her good friend Hailey being goofy instead of saying goodnight. ;)
Keeley and Mommy!
Note my matching monkey shirt! :)
Keeley and Daddy!
Off to bed after that!

Keeley is SIX!
It's true. Being 5 is so yesterday. ;)
Here's our little sweetie in her last hours as a 5-year-old.
Daddy putting her to bed:
(How CUTE is this picture??!)
Goodnight, sweet baby. See you when you're 6!
Aaaaaaand, Good MORNING! :)
Presents and donuts awaited her.
Some new clothes and new shoes!
She decided to pair a new shirt with some purple pants in her closet. It was "wear your teacher's favorite color" day, and she went all out!
Isn't she sassy?
I asked her to show me six fingers, and this is the look I got!
So, I called in the reinforcements.
BFF's!
Luken also took some photos!
Her fancy new shoes. She's been absolutely DYING for a pair of shoes "with no straps!"
She was officially 6 sometime while I took those outdoor photos!
Then I had to drop the kiddos off at school. Later, I had lunch with each of them, surprising them with Chick Fil A. After school, we played with some friends at the park for a couple of hours. The kids got absolutely filthy, so I sent them to clean up once we got home. Then Grandpa called, so Keeley took the call on the couch, all bundled up with a blanket. :) She was happier than she appears in this photo. I don't know why I couldn't get a better expression. :P
After the call ended and she got dressed, it was time to tear into her loot!
An American Girl doll!! She is thrilled to pieces!
A new shirt.
A puppy for her doll.
And many other awesome things. :)
Then it was time to head to dinner. Keeley picked a hibachi restaurant, where "they cook in front of you!"
The kids LOVE the fire!
Dinnertainment!
Our chef was egg-scellent. :P
Chef was flinging cooked egg at his diners, hoping it would land in our mouths. Luken thought this was GREAT fun!
JUST missed! (Look at his right shoulder.)
Look at all the yumminess!
The volcano onion.
Ready for the fire!
Well, maybe I'll just hide here behind Luken.
That's one way to cook a steak.
Once dinner was served, I packed up the camera and dug in.
Keeley's choice for dessert was frozen yogurt.
The kids love to serve it up themselves.
Toppings galore!
We opted to eat it at home, and I snuck a candle into Keeley's, so we could properly sing "Happy Birthday!:
Time for a little playing before bed!
Her new nightie, which she picked out for her upcoming almost-slumber-party!
She had a quiet rest in her room before bedtime, and this is how she spent her time.
She had named her doll "Avery," and wrote the name on a sticky note so she wouldn't forget the name. Isn't that the cutest??!!
With "Pepper."
Time for bed!
She actually fell asleep with the sleep mask on. Adorable.
So, that's it for another birthday in our household! We can't believe she's actually 6, but we couldn't be more proud of her. We all love her soooooo MUCH!
