Earlier this week, the kids and I were shopping with some friends, and picked up a Stomp Rocket as a gift for a birthday party Luken would attend during the weekend. I thought it would be a fun toy for Luken and Keeley, too, so I bought two.
Best. Purchase. EVER! The kids love it, and even take turns using it! If you have ridiculously high ceilings like we do in our entry and dining room, it can even be an appropriate indoor toy, which is key during a Texas summer such as this.
On Saturday evening, the kids went to play outside once it was shady and a little cooler to burn off some energy, and we took the Stomp Rocket outside to see how it would perform when it wasn't literally bouncing off the ceiling!
Photos ensued.... of course! :P
Experimentation... how far up will it go with a little more weight?
And a little more still???...
Pretty high up!!!
I told you they'd take turns!
One more before heading in to get ready for bed!
I highly recommend every family invest in one of these!! :D

Our little artist!!
Keeley has started drawing people, and the other day she drew a bunch of them, so I took some photos to share! I have to admit, I'm so proud of these! Luken still doesn't really draw people, and Keeley did all of these unprompted. I think it's so neat that they are different and have their own talents!
She even pays special attention to detail, making sure everyone has eyebrows!! :D
If I recall correctly, this one is Daddy!! <3

Hey, big spender!!
Luken has been saving his pennies (and dollars) so he could buy a Star Wars toy he had his eye on. Every Saturday he has been receiving a dollar from Daddy, and they have been counting down together until Luken had enough to buy this coveted toy! This past Saturday was the day, at long last!!
Counting up his dough...
He got all buckled into the car and took off with Daddy to Target!
He got to pick the toy out, and then hand it to the cashier and pay for it all by himself!!
He came home proudly, bag in hand, and showed it off to Keeley! (She and I had stayed home.)
He dug into his pocket for his change.
And showed me his receipt!
Then, Daddy helped him assemble the pieces.
A happy boy, with his "Rolling Guy" AKA "Destroyer."
In other cuteness... Keeley drew a picture of Mommy!
And then a picture of Daddy with Keeley!

A few crafty projects!
We've been fairly busy so far this summer, having lots and lots of playdates to keep ourselves entertained. Many of them have involved water in one way or another, so the camera has been safe and dry at home, thus, no pictures to share.
However, I did drag the sewing machine out of the closet and worked on a few projects for the kids. First, a sweet outfit for Keeley, which she has since refused to wear. This was one of my very first clothing projects ever! I usually only ever attempt home decor...
Next, a shirt for Luken. He had requested an octopus shirt, and I promised him I'd make one once I was finished with Keeley's outfit.
It's just an applique on a t-shirt. I love argyle, and thought an argyle octopus would be fun! It's not the most perfect thing I've ever seen... I sure picked a difficult outline for all that zigzag stitching, but Luken seems to like it, so I'm happy! I know the days are drawing near when he will no longer be pleased with such things.
Then I sewed some aprons for the kids, so they can help out in the kitchen from time to time. I took them to the fabric store and let them pick out their own fabrics! Sadly, there were no octopus prints, nor any Star Wars ones, so Luken settled on dinosaurs. I think it's pretty awesome, if I do say so myself!!
Keeley picked out some pink flowery fabric, of course! Very girly and cute!
But, another thing she refuses to wear. These are the best shots I got of her in it, and she hasn't worn it since...
It's OK.... it will fit for a long time to come, and someday she will brave the apron and the kitchen!
Luken and I have been having all sorts of fun baking up yummy cookies and blending up some fresh chilled tomato basil soup!! He is quite the little chef. :D

Young Jedis-in-training
Last weekend we were hanging out in the backyard on Sunday evening, after a yummy dinner straight from the grill.
The kids were being cute, like they often are!
Sharing and taking turns...
Luken showed us the proper use for an umbrella.
Keeley kicked the ball around.
Our next-door-neighbor, Patrick, had been out mowing his yard, and came across a slug. Hearing us outside, he decided to come over and show it to the kids!
Jacob, his older son, came along, and soon the boys had brought out the light sabers, and began dueling!
Luken, about to hit the tree. Check out his face!!
Using THE FORCE!
Keeley vied for some attention, but was mostly ignored, ha!
I tried to get Luken to pose... this was the best he would give me.
Ethan eventually made his way over, and he and Keeley got in on the fun!
May as well end this set like it started.... with a pic of beautiful Keeley!! :)
I thought this set was lots of fun, with many silly expressions, and boys being boys! Hope you enjoyed it, too!
