$4 Fun!

This afternoon I stopped in at the grocery store to pick up a few items, and browsed the offerings at the sushi station to find some lunch for myself (which I did - a box of California rolls, yum!)

I noticed a tub of teeny tiny baby octopuses in some sort of sesame sauce, and just KNEW I had to get them for Luken. They were just under $4, which was great. He is always asking for some of the octopus in the seafood case, which is $18/pound, and I'm certain he wouldn't actually EAT any. And I doubt I'd get enough of it for $4 to be very fun to play with.

Anyway, I surprised Luken with my find after his quiet time, and had the camera out and ready to go before he knew what hit him! :D

Hmmm... these are kind of slimy, Mom!

Photobucket

OK, I'll try one... I'll just lick it!
Photobucket

He declared it gross!

So, I offered to rinse them off so he could just play.

Suddenly, he launched into some Wall-e story, haha! He was very animated!

Back to octopus play...

During all of this, I had the TV on, which was showing Obama inauguration coverage.

I said to Luken, "Do you see that man? He is our new President!"
He thought that was very cool. I had him repeat "President Obama."
He asked, "What was the old President's name?"
I told him, "George Bush."
He said, "That's a cool name! I like THAT name!" :P Silly boy!

Then he started telling stories about a little octopus who was cold.

Well, I guess it was more of a science experiment than a snack. He decided to eat some Golfish. Ha!

Stock tip: Buy Kellogg's!

On one recent afternoon, the kids and I were playing upstairs, but after a while, I noticed Keeley was no longer up there with us, so I went down to investigate.

I found her sitting in her seat at the kitchen table, going to town on a box of Raisin Bran!
Photobucket

She had helped herself, and was trying very hard to eat all of the raisins, leaving much bran behind - on the table, on her lap, all over the floor, etc...
I was partially annoyed, but mostly impressed that she had taken care of business, and even sat at the table! Really, it could have been so much worse! At least it was something relatively healthy, and not a bag of jellybeans, right? Then again, I have strategically placed kid-acceptable food at child-level. I'm just usually around when they go for it. So, Raisin Bran for dinner it was that night! For her, anyway...

P.S. We have also entered the "pretty dress" phase, where that's all she wants to wear. She's darn cute, but she doesn't exactly have enough winter dresses to make it a full week! She's too young to worry about repeating an outfit, though, haha!

Rock on with your socks on!

Happy New Year!

We've been laying kind of low, recuperating from all the Christmas fun, so I haven't really had anything worth posting in a few weeks.

Here is a little fun, rock-n-roll style. We bought the newest Guitar Hero game, complete with drums and microphone, and have been having lots of fun with it!

We invited the neighbors over to test it out with us, and Luken decided it was a good time to wear his Halloween costume and play the drums. Hey, I guess an octopus would probably make a GREAT drummer! Hahahaha!
Photobucket

Jacob takes his guitar-playing very seriously. He has the same game at his house, so he knows what he's doing...
Photobucket

Princess Keeley decides to wiggle her way into the band!
Photobucket

Then, in true rock diva fashion, she decides she no longer wants pigtails...
Photobucket

But Luken just keeps on keepin' on...
Photobucket

... while Jacob takes over on the drums.
Photobucket

No photos, please!
Photobucket

Ethan is a true rocker - can't you just tell he's destined for the stage??
Photobucket

Photobucket

The next day, Keeley really takes to the drums!
Photobucket

Photobucket

And, Luken gets his groove on with the guitar!
Photobucket

You can do a freestyle session where your Mii's are actually shown playing your instrument!

Daddy teaches Luken to do the windmill.

Keeley's ready for a turn on a guitar!

And Luken gives it all he's got!!

Thank you.... thank you very much!! Goodnight Texas!
